My first trip to this area was in 1986 Ambon-Bali on the Lumba-Lumba and Mark was the dive guide and filling tanks. That was the beginning of many great trips and now it has culminated with him building his own boat and guiding his own trips. I wish our late Uncle Ed (Janss) were here to see you now! (The nudibranchs were great on this trip – he would have loved them …..). When I watch Tommy dive, I can tell he learned a lot from Mark – such a graceful diver. We had a great trip! Our 11 year old, Will, finished his certification with Linda the first few days of the trip. She is a FABULOUS instructor and was so thorough and kind and sweet to him. Will got a lot of attention from all of the dive guides and he especially enjoyed diving with Tommy, looking for crinoid shrimp. Tommy got him a pointer (found encrusted on the reef), cleaned it and the two of them unfurled crinoids for 12 days! This is our second trip on the boat. Except for the mantas in Raja Ampat, we really loved Komodo, especially Castle Rock with its tons of schooling fish, sharks, blue water, etc. Karl & Linda did everything to make us comfortable and happy. Everyone’s needs were attended to, no matter what we wanted to do. The crew also are ALL so sweet. They towed George (8) behind the zodiac on the boogie board, let him drive the tender, made him mie goreng (plain) for every meal. The food was FABULOUS and (as has been mentioned) the french toast is out of this world!! Please keep us informed of any future “family” trips and we will look forward to coming back to get George initiated into this magical underwater world. Many thanks to Karl & Linda, Wahyu, Bayu, Priadi, Iman, Yaya, Nico, Yovin, Bakar, Josef, Big John, Tommy, Tamrin, Udin, Iwan. Komodo to Maumere, July-August 2011.
